This policy explains what data the ASCEND app ("the app") uses and why. In short: your workouts stay on your phone, there are no ads, no tracking and no account. Data leaves your device only when you use the optional AI coach.
1. Data stored only on your device
- Your workouts, plans, workout history, levels, achievements and settings.
- This data is not sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it.
2. AI coach (optional, off by default)
If you turn on the AI coach, the app signs in anonymously (no name, email or phone number) and sends to our server:
- the text of your request (for example, "20 minutes of legs, no equipment");
- a short workout summary: level, available equipment, workout length, and for the weekly review — minutes trained and muscle load for the last days;
- the app language.
The server keeps an anonymous identifier, a monthly request counter, technical logs (time, request type, size) and a shared cache of requests and answers without any link to you. The request is processed by an AI model provided by Anthropic (Claude API) only to generate the answer.
Service providers: Supabase (hosting and database, Singapore region) and Anthropic (AI processing). They process data on our behalf and do not use it for advertising. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
3. Calendar, notifications, sound
- Calendar — only if you enable it: the app adds your planned workouts to a separate "ASCEND" calendar on your phone. It does not read your other events.
- Notifications — workout reminders and the timer during a workout. Created on your device.
- Microphone, camera, location, contacts — not used.
4. What we don't do
- No ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, no selling or sharing of data with third parties for marketing.
- No health records: ASCEND is a training timer, not a medical app, and it does not give medical advice.
5. Retention and deletion
Request counters and logs are kept for up to 12 months. You can stop sending data at any time by turning off the AI coach in Settings. To delete the data linked to your anonymous AI identifier, email us — we will delete it within 30 days.
6. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
7. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
